ETRI 400Hz AC fans (115V and 200V) and 28VDC fans are specifically designed to meet the demanding requirements of both civil and defence aerospace applications. Depending on the configuration, they comply with the industry's major standards.

Engineered to provide efficient cooling and optimal thermal management, ETRI fans are integrated into a wide range of onboard systems where safety, reliability, and continuous operation are essential.

Aerospace Applications

ETRI fans are used to cool and ventilate a variety of critical systems, including:

  • Cockpit ventilation
  • Fuel tank inerting systems designed to reduce explosion risks
  • Radar cooling and ventilation
  • Targeting systems and optronic equipment
  • Cooling of onboard displays and screens
  • Cooling of electronic equipment and power electronics

Thanks to their compact design, proven reliability, and ability to operate in harsh environments, ETRI fans provide a high-performance ventilation solution for the aerospace, defense, and embedded electronics industries.

400Hz and 28VDC Fans

ETRI axial fans are designed to meet the demanding requirements of civil and defence aerospace applications, where reliability, compactness, and cooling performance are essential.

400Hz Axial Fans

The 400Hz range delivers outstanding performance, with airflow rates of up to 970L/s and rotational speeds of up to 23,000 rpm.

Available in 115V or 200V, with single-phase or three-phase motors, these fans provide power ratings of up to 1,250W (other power ratings available on request). Selected models are also available in dual-voltage (115V / 200V) versions, allowing easier integration into different electrical systems.

28VDC Axial Fans

ETRI 28 VDC fans are specifically engineered for onboard aerospace systems. They offer excellent resistance to electrical and environmental stresses thanks to:

  • 28 VDC power supply, the standard voltage for aerospace applications
  • Protection against voltage transients up to 80 V
  • A design optimized for harsh environments, including:
    • Tropicalized construction
    • Salt spray resistance
    • Protection against shock and vibration

High-Performance Onboard Ventilation for Avionics

In the civil aviation and defense industries, thermal management is a critical safety requirement. As onboard electronic systems become increasingly complex, they require compact, highly reliable ventilation solutions capable of operating in the harshest environments. Since 1945, ETRI has been designing advanced axial and centrifugal fans engineered to meet the strict space, weight, and power constraints of aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

  • Dedicated Power Technologies
    • 400 Hz AC range (115 V / 200 V): Specifically designed for aircraft onboard electrical networks, enabling higher rotational speeds while significantly reducing motor weight.
    • 28 VDC range (with transient protection up to 80 V): Optimized for aerospace electrical systems, providing efficient power distribution while limiting current intensity.
  • Critical Onboard Applications
    • Cockpit ventilation and cabin environmental control.
    • Active cooling of OBIGGS (On-Board Inert Gas Generation Systems), which enrich fuel tanks with nitrogen to eliminate explosion risks.
    • Thermal management of targeting systems, onboard radar, and flight control computers.
    • Heat dissipation for cockpit LCD displays and densely packed avionics equipment bays.
  • Compliance and Ruggedness (Mil-Spec) – Available on Request
    • Environmental and electrical standards: Qualified to civil aviation DO-160 requirements or defence standards including MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-704.
    • Extreme environment resistance: Tropicalized fans designed to withstand severe shock, high aircraft vibration levels, and salt fog exposure.
    • Several of our aerospace fan models are assigned NATO Stock Numbers (NSN), demonstrating their proven reliability and compliance with the demanding requirements of defense applications.
