Our Custom Fan Development Process

Comprehensive Support for Designing Your Custom Fan

At ETRI, every custom fan project follows a rigorous development process designed to ensure optimum performance, seamless integration into your equipment, and long-term reliability.

From the initial analysis of your requirements through to production, our teams support you at every stage to develop a solution tailored to your technical, environmental, and economic constraints.

1. Requirements Analysis and Feasibility Study

Every project begins with a detailed review of your specifications. Our engineers analyze, among other things:

  • Power supply requirements
  • Required aerodynamic performance (airflow and pressure)
  • Integration constraints (dimensions, weight, mechanical interfaces)
  • Operating environment (temperature, humidity, dust, altitude, IP rating, shock and vibration)
  • Acoustic requirements
  • Applicable standards and certifications
  • Cost, lead time, and service life objectives

This initial phase allows us to assess both the technical and economic feasibility of the project, identify any potential challenges, and, whenever possible, recommend an existing solution that already meets your requirements.

2. Project File Preparation

Once your requirements have been analyzed, we create a dedicated project file. This phase brings together all the technical information required for the development of your fan, including:

  • Aerodynamic specifications
  • Mechanical constraints
  • Operating conditions
  • Electrical characteristics
  • Applicable standards
  • Project schedule
  • Cost targets and production volumes

A comprehensive specification ensures an efficient and well-controlled development process.

3. Technical Solution Definition

Our engineering team then develops the solution best suited to your application.

This stage includes:

  • Compliance assessment against your specifications
  • Preliminary aerodynamic sizing
  • Fan architecture selection
  • Motor selection
  • Selection of materials suited to your operating environment
  • And more

Our objective is to design a fan that delivers outstanding performance, reliability, and full compliance with your requirements.

4. Technical and Commercial Proposal

Following the engineering study, we provide a detailed technical and commercial proposal.

The proposal outlines the selected solution, expected performance, development schedule, and associated costs. It can be refined with you to ensure the most appropriate solution for your project.

5. Design and Numerical Simulations

Once your order has been confirmed, our engineering department begins the design phase.

This includes:

  • Complete 3D modeling of the fan
  • Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations
  • Mechanical and vibration analysis
  • Acoustic optimization

These simulations validate the design before prototype manufacturing, reducing technical risks and accelerating development.

6. Prototype Manufacturing and Validation

One or more prototypes are then manufactured to validate the fan's actual performance.

Testing includes verification of:

  • Aerodynamic performance
  • Mechanical integration
  • Acoustic performance
  • Compliance with the project specifications

Depending on the project requirements, qualification testing can also be carried out by specialized laboratories to ensure compliance with applicable industry standards.

Test results are reviewed jointly with our customers before moving to the next stage.

7. Industrialization and Production

Once the prototype has been approved, we prepare the product for full-scale manufacturing.

This phase includes:

  • Finalization of the technical documentation
  • Definition of manufacturing processes
  • Supplier qualification
  • Implementation of quality control procedures
  • Preparation for serial production

Our objective is to ensure consistent quality, repeatable performance, and long-term reliability for every fan we manufacture.

Personalized Project Management

Each development project is managed by a dedicated point of contact who coordinates all communication between your company and our engineering teams. Stéphane Rézohier, our experienced Field Sales Engineer, is your primary contact throughout the project. He analyzes your specifications and works closely with Santiago Martinez, Product Manager for the ETRI brand.

Throughout the project, they provide structured support covering:

  • Project launch and planning
  • Design reviews
  • Development and prototype monitoring
  • Testing and validation
  • Industrialization
  • Post-production support

Do you have a custom fan project? Stéphane is available to review your requirements and recommend the ventilation solution best suited to your application.
